We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Jessica Kelliher has been appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, starting her tenure on November 1, 2023. With a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a rich background in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Dr. Kelliher brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role.
During her time as a postdoctoral researcher in JD Sauer’s lab, Dr. Kelliher made strides in the field of host-microbe interactions, particularly focusing on the cytosol and utilizing Listeria monocytogenes as a model organism. Her outstanding contributions were acknowledged with a F32 grant from NIAID, supporting her research endeavors from August 2020 to July 2023.
Dr. Kelliher’s dedication to advancing scientific knowledge is exemplified by her publications. She authored a paper in PLOS Pathogens in 2021, shedding light on crucial aspects of host-pathogen interactions. Additionally, her innovative research was highlighted in a preprint on bioRxiv in 2023, further emphasizing her commitment to sharing valuable insights within the scientific community.
Beyond her research accomplishments, Dr. Kelliher demonstrated exceptional leadership as the Co-President of the UW-Madison Postdoctoral Association from July 2020 to June 2021. Her involvement in professional associations underscores her passion for fostering collaboration and mentorship among peers.
